Hobart City Band Inc. is a not-for-profit organisation offering members of the community the opportunity to play in bands catering for a range of musical tastes and abilities.
The Band has over 100 members, including people relatively new to music through to highly-experienced and professionally-qualified musicians.
Established in the nineteenth century, the Band is one of the oldest in Tasmania.
There are six bands under the Hobart City Band banner, each lead by a specialist conductor - Wind Symphony, Brass, Swing, Junior Brass, Junior Concert and Development.

Two Hobart City Bands travelled to Sydney recently to compete in the 2009 National Band Championships and both won National titles.
The Hobart City Wind Symphony won the Open A Grade Concert Band section and the Brass Band won the Open B Grade Brass Band section.
This is the first time that a Tasmanian concert band has won an Australian A grade title. The Wind Symphony (as Hobart City Concert Band) was runner-up in 2007. The Brass Band previously won the B Grade section in 2007.
The Championships were held at the Seymour Centre in Sydney from the 9th - 13th April, 2009. The 2010 National Band Championships will be held in Hobart from the 2 -5 April 2010.
