Welcome to Hobart City Band
Hobart City Band Inc. is a not-for-profit organisation offering members of the community the opportunity to play in ensembles catering for a range of musical tastes and abilities.
Hobart City Band Inc. has over 100 members, including people relatively new to music through to highly-experienced and professionally-qualified musicians.
Five ensembles
There are five ensembles under the Hobart City Band banner, each led by a specialist conductor - Wind Symphony, Brass, Swing, Junior Brass and Youth Winds (Junior Concert). Read more in About Us.
Wind Symphony wins 2010 National Championship
Hobart City Band's Wind Symphony has held on to its title of Australian National A-Grade Concert Band Champion. The Wind Symphony had a convincing 17 point win in the Open A-Grade Concert Band section of the 2010 Yamaha Australian National Band Championships held in Hobart, 2-5 April. The Wind Symphony first won the title in 2009, competing in Sydney. All results for Hobart City Band.
City of Hobart Eisteddfod
Three of Hobart City Band's ensembles competed in the City of Hobart Eisteddfod on 7 July 2010, each winning awards. Details.
Tasmanian Bands League Solo and Party Championships
Hobart City Band members, peforming in Launceston (29 - 30 May 2010), won seven of the thirteen special trophies awarded, including the Jack Lusted Trophy, as well as a large number of medals. Results.
