Claire Reade graduated from the University of Tasmania with a combined Bachelor of Music, Bachelor of Teaching degree in 2008.

Claire was conductor of the Hobart City Development Band from 2005 to 2008 and in 2006 joined Lyall McDermott as joint conductor of the Hobart City Junior Concert Band, now called Youth Winds.

Claire has led Hobart City Band's Youth Winds to win the titles of 2011 Australian National Junior B-Grade Concert Champion and the 2010 Tasmanian Junior B-Grade Concert Champion.

Claire plays flute in Hobart City Band's Wind Symphony. She is also active in choral music as a former president of the Tasmanian University Musical Society and conductor of the Wellingtones.
