FEBRUARY 2012
Sunday 5 February, Hobart City Band's Wind Symphony at Government House
On Sunday 5 February from 11 am - 4 pm, The Governor of Tasmania, The Honourable Peter Underwood AC and Mrs Underwood will host an open day at Government House to celebrate the Diamond Jubilee of the reign of Her Majesty The Queen.
The anniversary day will feature performances by the Tasmanian Orchestra Symphony Chorus, the Australian Army Band Tasmania, Hobart City Band's Wind Symphony, the Tasmania Police Pipe Band and the Clarence Swing Band.
Hobart City Band's Wind Symphony performance of about one hour will start at approximately 2:45 pm (based on the current schedule).
The event will take place regardless of the weather and, in the event of rain, the musical performances will be in the ballroom.
Thursday 23 February, 7pm - 8.30pm, "Works of Gustav Holst", Hobart City Band's Wind Symphony
This concert, featuring works by Gustav Holst, is the third in the Composer Series of concerts being performed by Hobart City Band's Wind Symphony.
The Wind Symphony will play Holst's three classic band compositions (works that defined the medium in the twentieth century) as well as a transcription of Jupiter from Holst's The Planets.

Thursday 7 June, 7pm - 8.30pm, "Works of Eric Whitacre and Steven Bryant", Hobart City Band's Wind Symphony
This concert, featuring the works of Eric Whitacre and Steven Bryant, is the fourth in the Composer Series of concerts being performed by Hobart City Band's Wind Symphony.
The works by these two American composer colleagues are some of the most exciting being written today. This concert includes a selection of their works for band all written in the last 20 years.

Thursday 6 September, 7pm - 8.30pm, "Rule Britannia - works of Elgar, Walton and Vaughan Williams", Hobart City Band's Wind Symphony
"Rule Britannia", featuring the works of Elgar, Walton and Vaughan Williams, is the fifth in the Composer Series of concerts being performed by Hobart City Band's Wind Symphony.
The Wind Symphony will take you on a journey through the great English music of the early twentieth century, with marches by Elgar and Walton alongside Vaughan Williams' classic works for wind band.

DECEMBER 2012
Thursday 20th December, 7pm - 8.30pm, "Works of David Maslanka", Hobart City Band's Wind Symphony
This concert, featuring the works of David Maslanka, is the sixth in the Composer Series of concerts being performed by Hobart City Band's Wind Symphony.
This very special performance will be the first time that David Maslanka's major work for wind ensemble, "A Child's Garden of Dreams", will be performed in Tasmania and promises to be an event not to be missed.
